Safe Routes to School Traffic Calming Scheme
Wexford County Council proposes to undertake construction of Traffic Calming and pedestrian measures on Convent Road (R890), Enniscorthy in front of St. Aidans Primary School, Moran Park, St. Aidans Villas and Bellefield Road.
The proposed scheme consists of carriageway narrowing, footpath widening, new footpath, pedestrian crossings, place making including landscaping, street furniture (i.e., Seats, benches etc) in front of and surrounding St. Aidans Primary School.
These intervention works are part of the Safe Routes to School programme, developed in partnership with the NTA and Green Schools in 2020. The objective of the programme is to improve safety at the school gate by providing ‘front of school’ treatments to alleviate congestion and improve access.
Drawings are available for inspection on Wexford County Council’s website, Home | Wexford County Council Online Consultation Portal and on display in our Customer Services Unit, Wexford County Council, County Hall, Wexford (Y35 WX93) from Friday 16th June 2023 to Friday 14th July 2023.
It is intended to undertake the proposed works in a phased basis, initially on Convent Road R890 and then surrounding streets.
The Council will consider any submissions or observations made in writing regarding the proposal. Submissions should be lodged with Active Travel Team, Wexford County Council, County Hall, Carricklawn, Wexford, Y35 WY93 or by email to activetravel@wexfordcoco.ie to be received by 5.00pm Friday 14th July 2023.
Please note that comments, including names of those making comments, submitted to the Council regarding this process will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented at a meeting of the elected members. Accordingly, they may also appear in the public domain.
