Local Biodiversity Action Plan Survey

Closed27 Mar, 2025, 09:00 - 25 Apr, 2025, 17:00

Wexford County Council is preparing a new Local Biodiversity Action Plan, supported by the Heritage Council. This is a requirement of the National Biodiversity Action Plan and which requires that each Local Authority must have a Local Biodiversity Action Plan in place by the end of 2026.

The plan provides a framework for biodiversity action for the next six years with the aim of halting biodiversity loss in County Wexford.  It will be underpinned by the objectives of the National Biodiversity Action Plan and will set a vision for addressing biodiversity loss at a local level.  An emphasis will be placed on actions that are achievable and measurable within the lifetime of the plan.  The Wexford Biodiversity Action Plan will run in parallel with the Wexford Heritage Plan also in development and will take into account the strategic biodiversity objectives of the Wexford County Development Plan 2022-2028.

A Pre-Draft Consultation Paper on biodiversity has been prepared (link here to discussion paper) which provides more information. In order for the Wexford County Local Biodiversity Action Plan to be successful it is important that we hear your views on how we should conserve biodiversity at a local level across the county.

Sharing your views will help us to identify local needs and will help us develop actions required.  The more voices the better our plan will be.

We would be grateful if you could complete the short survey below.  All submissions will be considered in the preparation of the new Local Biodiversity Action Plan

The closing date has passed and submissions are no longer being accepted.
