Have your Say on proposed Changes to the County Development Plan 2022 - 2028!

Wexford County Council is inviting members of the Public to take part in a consultation on Proposed Variation No. 2 to the Wexford County Development Plan. The consultation is being held under the Planning & Development Act 2024. 

What is this about? 
The County Development Plan sets out how Wexford will grow and develop over the lifetime of the plan - including housing, land zoning and infrastructure. The Council is proposing changes to the County Development plan to make sure it aligns with National Policy. 
 

What changes are being proposed?
The proposed Variation includes:

  • Introduction of Land Use Zoning and Objectives for Rosslare Harbour & Kilrane.

  • Introduction of Land Use Zoning and Objectives for Bunclody Town.

  • Consequential amendments to the text of both Settlement Plans.


Are there Reports/Studies included in the Variation?

Yes, reports have been carried out to assess the Environmental impacts of the proposed Variation.


How can I view the proposed changes?
The documents and maps will be on public display from Wednesday 17th June 2026 until Thursday 16th July 2026  (inclusive) at the following locations during their normal opening hours:

  • Online (anytime) at consult.wexfordcoco.ie 

  • Planning Reception, Planning Department, Wexford County Council, County Hall, Carricklawn, Wexford, Y35 WY93

  • The Bank Community and Enterprise Hub, St. Martin's Road, Rosslare Harbour, Wexford, Y35 RX62

  • Bunclody Library, Millwood, Carrigduff, Bunclody, Co. Wexford. Y21 E970

 

Public Information Meetings regarding Variation No. 2 will take place at the following locations; .

  • Thursday 25th June, 16:00 – 19:00 at Bunclody Golf Club, Bunclody

  • Tuesday 30th June, 16:00 – 19:00 at The Bank Community & Enterprise Hub, Rosslare Harbour



How can I make a submission?
Anyone can make a submission or observation, including individuals, groups and organisations. Children, or groups representing children, are also welcome to comment. 
Your comment must be received by 5:00pm, Thursday 16th July 2026  , using one of the following channels only: 

  • Online via consult.wexfordcoco.ie

  • In writing to; Forward Planning, Wexford County Council, County Hall, Carricklawn, Wexford, Y35 WY93 with the reference ‘Variation No. 2 Wexford County Development Plan 2022-2028’

What should I include in my submission? 

  • Your name and address

  • The issue or proposed change you are commenting on

  • Your observations or comments on same

What happens to the submissions?

  • All submissions received on time will be considered before a decision is made on the Variation.

  • Submissions will be published online, with personal data removed.

  • All submissions will form part of the Chief Executive's Report which is presented to the full Council. 

Only submissions that relate directly to the Variation will be taken into consideration.

Please do not include vexatious, libelous or confidential information, or personal details about other people without their consent. 

Wexford County Council may remove parts of submissions, if required, to meet data protection rules.
