Wexford County Council is inviting members of the Public to take part in a consultation on Proposed Variation No. 1 to the Wexford County Development Plan. The consultation is being held under the Planning & Development Act 2024.
What is this about?
The County Development Plan sets out how Wexford will grow and develop over the lifetime of the plan - including housing, land zoning and infrastructure. The Council is proposing changes to the County Development plan to make sure it aligns with National Policy.
What changes are being proposed?
The proposed Variation includes:
Updates to the Core Strategy, which lists how and where development should happen.
New zoning maps and objectives for Enniscorthy Town
New zoning maps and objectives for New Ross Town
Updates to the Policy relating to sites to which Seveso III Directive applies.
Are there Reports/Studies included in the Variation?
Yes, reports have been carried out to assess the Environmental impacts of the proposed Variation.
How can I view the proposed changes?
The documents and maps will be on public display from Wednesday, 11th February until Thursday 12th March (inclusive) at the following locations during their normal opening hours:
Planning Reception, Planning Department, Wexford County Council, County Hall, Carricklawn, Wexford, Y35 WY93
New Ross District Office, The Tholsel, Quay Street, New Ross, Co. Wexford Y34 CF64
Enniscorthy District Office, Market Square, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, Y21 W2V4
Public Meetings regarding Variation No. 1 will take place during the 4-week public consultation.

How can I make a submission?
Anyone can make a submission or observation, including individuals, groups and organisations. Children, or groups representing children, are also welcome to comment.
Your comment must be received by 5:00pm, Thursday 12th March, 2026, using one of the following channels only:

What happens to the submissions?
All submissions received on time will be considered before a decision is made on the Variation.
Submissions will be published online, with personal data removed.
All submissions will form part of the Chief Executive's Report which is presented to the full Council.
Only submissions that relate directly to the Variation will be taken into consideration.

Please do not include vexatious, libelous or confidential information, or personal details about other people without their consent.
Wexford County Council may remove parts of submissions, if required, to meet data protection rules.
