Proposed Variation No. 1 of the Wexford County Development Plan 2022 - 2028
Notice is hereby given, pursuant to Section 58(13)(a) of the Planning and Development Act 2024 (as amended), that Wexford County Council has prepared Proposed Material Alterations to Proposed Variation No. 1 of the Wexford County Development Plan 2022 – 2028.
In accordance with Section 58(13)(b) and Section 58(13)(c) of the Planning and Development Act 2024 (as amended), it has been determined that a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and an Appropriate Assessment (AA) are not required to be carried out in respect of the proposed material alterations.
The following documents are published for inspection and public consultation:
Proposed Material Alterations to Proposed Variation No. 1 of the Wexford County Development Plan 2022 – 2028
Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) incorporating proposed material alterations and updating the assessment arising from proposed material alterations
Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening Report and Determination pursuant to the SEA Directive and Section 58 (13)(b) of the Planning and Development Act 2024 (as amended)
Appropriate Assessment Screening Report and Determination pursuant to the EU Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) and Section 58 (13)(c) of the Planning and Development Act 2024 (as amended)
Notice of Determination in Respect of the Appropriate Assessment of Proposed Material Alterations to Proposed Variation No. 1 to the County Development Plan 2022 - 2028
With respect to the Determination pursuant to Section 58(13)(c) and the EU Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) in respect of the Appropriate Assessment, on the basis of a screening for appropriate assessment, the planning authority has determined, in accordance with Section 202 of Part 6 of the Planning and Development Act 2024 (as amended), and for the purposes of Article 6(3) of the European Habitats Directive (as amended), that any likelihood of any Proposed Material Alteration (either individually or in combination with any other plan or project) having any significant effect on any European site can be excluded in view of the conservation objectives of the habitats or species for which these sites have been designated. Therefore, Stage 2 Appropriate Assessment for the Proposed Material Alterations is not required. The Determination in relation to the need for Appropriate Assessment can be accessed at consult.wexfordcoco.ie
The Proposed Material Alterations and associated documents will be placed on public display and may be inspected between Wednesday 29th April 2026 at 9.00am and Thursday 28th May 2026 at 5.00pmonline at consult.wexfordcoco.ie and during normal working hours at the following locations:

Written submissions with respect to the Proposed Material Alterations and associated documents, may be made before 5:00pm onThursday 28th May 2026.
Written submissions should be clearly marked ‘Proposed Material Alterations to Proposed Variation No. 1 of the Wexford County Development Plan 2022 – 2028’ and must be submitted either via:

Please make your submission by one medium only, i.e. online or hard copy.
Submissions and observations should state full name and address of the person making the submission and, where relevant, the body or organisation represented. Children or groups/associations representing the interests of children are welcome to make submissions. Late submissions or email submissions will not be accepted.
Only submissions made in respect of the Proposed Material Alterations and accompanying documents (including submissions relating to the likely significant effects on the environment of implementing the Proposed Material Alterations) will be taken into consideration before the making of the Variation. Submissions in relation to any other aspects of Proposed Variation No. 1 cannot be considered at this stage in the process.
All submissions received with respect to the Proposed Material Alterations and associated documents will be published on the Council’s website and Consultation Portal, subject to redaction under General Data Protection Regulation Guidelines (GDPR) and will be listed in, and considered, as part of the statutory Chief Executive’s Report that will be prepared for the Elected Members. The Chief Executive’s Report, which will include the names of those who made submissions, will also be published on the Council’s website and consultation portal.
