Safe Routes to School and traffic calming scheme

Wexford County Council proposes to undertake construction of Traffic Calming and pedestrian measures on R735 & L4009 in the centre of Adamstown village and at the junction with Fairfields Estate.

The proposed scheme consists of carriageway narrowing, footpath widening, pedestrian crossings, place making including tree pits, flower beds (SUDS features), street furniture (i.e., Seats, benches etc) in front of Adamstown National school. Junction tightening measures to be installed at entrance to Fairfields housing estate.

These intervention works are part of the Safe Routes to School programme, developed in partnership with the NTA and Green Schools in 2020. The objective of the programme is to improve safety at the school gate by providing ‘front of school’ treatments to alleviate congestion and improve access.
